(2013 Spring for graduate students)

Syllabus

This course covers functional safety of software systems, one of the most important topics in industrial software engineering. All students first study the basic international standard - IEC 61508. Each student then studies one international standard for specific domain, such as nuclear power plant, avionics, medical device, automobile and rail transportation. All students should propose how they can apply the standard to their own research domain and demonstrate preliminary case studies.


Grading plan:
    - Presentation : 70%
    - Proposal & Group Project : 30%
